We have achieved so much in the last 4 years, securing Palm Desert's economic future and protecting our residents.  I want to continue implementing the City's Strategic Plan and Vision for Palm Desert.

SERVING ON THE ECONOMIC SUB-COMMITTEE

Palm Desert depends on hotel and sales tax for its main source of revenue. Serving on the Economic Sub-Committee it is critical to identify & support: 

  • Unique offerings like the Acrisure Arena, Desert Willow Golf Resort, Palm Desert Aquatic Center, and reimagining the Palm Desert Mall that encourages visitors and residents to shop, stay, and enjoy Palm Desert

  • Analyzing data & strategizing for potential national and regional business recruitment for the Palm Desert Mall, El Paseo, and our North Sphere

  • Ensuring a Balanced Budget & Maintaining the Quality of Life our residents expect

Next Steps

The Economic Development Department & our Council will be reviewing proposals in quarter four, 2024. Upgraded broadband networks should start in mid-2025.

SERVING ON CVAG'S ENERGY & ENVIRONMENTAL RESOURCES COMMITTEE

 “I am dedicated to enhancing our beautiful Desert community and addressing air quality issues brought on by Hurricane Hillary and the energy needs in our region". 

  • Our City has been installing recycled palm mulch ground cover to minimize sand build up and blowing sand - Public Works on call during wind storms

  • Coordination efforts with South Coast Air Quality District, State, & Federal organizations 

  • Working on Salton Sea environmental issues

  • Collaborating with So Cal Edison, IID, and alternative energy companies to meet the energy needs of our community

“The foundation for a vibrant economy and quality of life is good educational opportunities that help to diversify the local economy".  As a former teacher and parent, advocating for a stand-alone California University Palm Desert campus with an expanded degree program continues to be a top priority.

North Sphere & University Park Town Center

We must continue to address our unique needs in North Palm Desert:

  • Dust Mitigation & Air Quality

  • Review and address relevant zoning ordinances for housing and commercial construction

  • Ensure quality housing for all, including retirees, our workforce professionals, teachers, and first responders

  • Work with the Cultural Arts Committee to commission Art Sculptures located in the medians

  • Beautify our public areas with drought tolerant landscaping

  • Develop a town center with commercial uses

REGIONAL & COMMUNITY PARK

The North Sphere Regional & Community Parks acquired funds from the Proposition 68, also known as State of California Parks and Water Bond 2018 which aims to create financial resources for parks.
